Abstract
The Finnish National Research Information Hub offers access to information on science and research in Finland. The hub, maintained by the CSC – IT Center for Science, collects metadata on publications, research data, research infrastructures, and information on funded research projects. Moreover, it shows funding calls, science and research statistics and news. The national portal Research.fi makes the information visible and open to the public.
Aalto Current Research Information System, ACRIS, is the Pure based research information management system of the Finnish Aalto University. Various integrations and data flows between ACRIS and the Finnish Research Information Hub enable showcasing research activities of Aalto University on the national portal. In the future, the data integrated from ACRIS to Research.fi might be accessible in a joint European research portal.
The presentation describes data flows of publications, infrastructures, datasets, and researchers between ACRIS and the national Research.fi portal. Project information is transferred automatically from funders’ systems.
Publications are integrated from ACRIS to Research.fi via VIRTA Publication Information Service, a data hub that compiles bibliographic information on scientific publications from Finnish research organizations. Different fields are required from different publication types.
Research infrastructure information is delivered to Research.fi using an online form. Before automated data transfer can be implemented, ACRIS data needs to be made compliant with the data model required by Research.fi.
Information on datasets is transferred from ACRIS to Metax, the Finnish metadata hub via a REST API. Metadata must be compliant with Metax data model. Datasets in Metax will be searchable both in the national Fairdata Etsin research data search engine and Research.fi.
The newest integration is Researchers’ Profile Tool, estimated to be in production during spring of 2023. Researchers can create a profile in Research.fi portal, incorporate information from ORCID and their home organizations to the service, and choose which information they want to be displayed. Act on the National Research Information Hub enables transferring researcher information from ACRIS to the Research.fi, but permission for data transfer is also asked in the profile tool.
