Abstract

Pure offers the ability for customers to index content and profiles against several known mechanism, including the Pure Fingerprint Engine and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). And while both discovery and index tools are useful, customers may still wish to have a discovery and indexing mechanism that is more closely aligned and relevant to their own strategic mission and research focus.

In 2019, The University of Texas Medical Branch – Galveston in Galveston, Texas, USA developed a new strategic plan which rolled out six integrated strategic research-based Health Communities. These Health Communities bring together researchers, educations, clinicians, and community members to use prevention and treatment to transform illness to health. To promote the UTMB Health Communities, badges were developed and added to the UTMB Research Experts profiles. This helps to identify and associate investigators with the UTMB Health Communities and takes full advantage of research indexing and information management capabilities within Pure.

This session will discuss the foundation behind the creation of the UTMB Health Communities and their relationship to UTMB’s research strategic plan. Additionally, the process for analyzing information on researcher’s outputs to assign the proper health community labels, and the process for adding the labels to a researcher’s profile within the Pure Portal will also be discussed. Lastly, the presentation will present the future plans for integrating the workflows and analysis activities of the Health Communities within the new Pure Reporting Module. Attendees will learn that while Pure provides several ways to index and discover research output and researcher profiles, customers have the means to also create their own strategically aligned mechanisms utilizing the tools and capabilities that Pure has to offer.
