Abstract

The University of Southampton encourages its users to use Pure to curate their research ‘portfolio’. The information can be entered once into Pure and used many times in other systems via Pure’s Web Service/API. Examples of this include populating our Open Access repository with publications and datasets, our staff profile pages with personal information, publications, activities and projects. We also use the API to feed data to other internal systems. For example, we have developed tools to create a searchable database of outreach and public engagement activities and another tool to help users find relevant policy connections. By utilising the data held in Pure we can facilitate greater connections between our academics and internal and external stakeholders. We can uncover relationships that have already been made in the University, allowing others to view those relationships and develop meaningful connections. We are also exploring how to utilise Pure data to build customised PowerBI dashboards.
